From WCWBA President
Welcome to the Will County Women’s Bar Association’s website!
The WCWBA has been serving the Will County legal community for more than 20 years. All attorneys, regardless of gender, are welcome members of our organization. WCWBA’s primary mission is to provide support for women attorneys. As such, the WCWBA’s mission statement is as follows:
- To promote and protect the interest of women attorneys in achieving full participation in all the rights, privileges, and benefits of the legal profession;
- To advance opportunities for women attorneys and to improve access to positions of merit and authority;
- To serve as a vehicle for the exchange and dissemination of information and ideas among all attorneys practicing in Will County;
- To promote continuing legal education for women attorneys and to aid and mentor new women attorneys;
- To encourage young women to seek career opportunities in the field of law; and
- To promote the advancement of women in society and the administration of justice.
To advance our mission in the past, the WCWBA has hosted various educational seminars, provided scholarships to deserving female students at Joliet Junior College, sponsored electronic recycling drives and the annual Guardian Angel Home’s Take Back the Night Event. We have also held candidate forums during election years to ensure that our community is fully informed about the positions of those running for judicial and other elected offices. In coming years, we plan to expand and build upon these same endeavors. Our organization still has much to do, and we would like your input! If you are interested in enriching both your practice and the community, consider joining the WCWBA.
To learn more, please come to one of our monthly meetings. The meeting dates and locations can be found on our calendar.
You may also complete the membership form and forward it to my attention via facsimile at (815) 727-1701 or via email at Victoria@jaquayslawoffices.com. I look forward to getting to know you and welcoming you to the practice of law in Will County.
Sincerely,
Victoria McKay Kennison
WCWBA President 2009-2010
